Which IB Firm has the Quantiest bankers?
Self explanatory from subject above - was just curious what others thought about the investment banks that seem to have the Quantiest people.

Do you mean as an entire institution or which investment bankers within a specific firm are the most quantamental?
Some firms, especially bulges have dedicated quant teams but I am also aware of several middle markets beginning to form these groups (they've started hiring quant consultants, usually just one person, not a firm or anything, to "test" and potentially form a team)

GS but they're still dope, just nerdy. Most guys that go to MS from my school are weird nerds that think they're baller - Girls are good though
This is just false. MS is full of athletes and Greenwich kids. GS is pretty quant/nerd heavy though.

yes. everyone from my school that i know that goes on to HL rx fits that stereotype. still a really solid group tho.
Off topic but i'll go out on a limb and say firm with most quants is probably Citadel. I know they aren't in IB but you catch my drift.
Ren Tech
Ren Tech has a lot of Ph.D's and the whole firm is full of Quants but Citadel easily has more guys of their caliber in the firm. But I would agree that Ren Tech has the highest percentage of quants in the company.

I think the general impression I've gotten is that the more quant oriented professions at banks are in S&T. However what are some roles slanted in that same direction in IBD? I have a family friend who I've been talking to and he likes my resume and all and has said he can help me get an interview in IBD at Merrill. I'm interested in the Quant side of things (my undergrad education has so far consisted of lots of math, some basic finance courses and programming courses and some econ... I'm probably best suited for and interested in those subjects in that order) so I'm interested in what groups or roles would be good for me. A friend who is a first year analyst suggested I stick to product groups or cap markets (DCM specifically) rather than say general M&A or industry groups in most cases. Is this sound advice? Also he didn't mention CorpFin but where would a coprorate finance group fit in on the "quant continuum" Thanks in advance for hopefully very helpful responses.
