Who's heard of Villanova

Who's heard of Villanova

Last week we've got this most arrogant yet intriguing cover letter from a Villanova student,
applying for SA when we did not even have an opening. (behold, the letter is soon to be shared!)
Problem is, my MDs or VPs or neither have I heard of this school.

Perhaps you guys in U.S. know what this skool is like?

if you post the letter, black out the author's name or you could get in trouble

wow go ahead and edit my post mod because the truth about this school hurts.

sorry I'm straightforward.

Your post was edited because it was 1) not answering the mods question 2) only served to troll and flame and 3) useless

Maybe you are on the west coast which would explain not hearing about the school. Ranked #11th for undergrad, huge Big East school. Was ranked 2nd in the country in basketball, now 5th.

A lot of Alums on Wall Street, places pretty well.

Note: I go to Villanova so I would decide to NOT post that kids cover letter.

Furthermore, unless the kid was rude, obviously embellishing or lying to some ridiculous degree or something ludicrous I feel as if "outing" someone who is just trying to get a chance is unprofessional and immature.

A simple google search would give you all the information about Villanova you need.

TheRapist:
LMAO. What are you talking about? Villanova is a garbage school for garbage students who weren't talented enough to get into good schools. #11 in undergrad business schools by BusinessWeek because most top schools don't have undergrad business programs - only clown schools like Villanova do. There acceptance rate was almost 40%, so any moron can get into that place.

OP, you and your colleagues were wise to reject retard Villanova student. Please post his letter so we can all laugh at the idea of a Villanova peasant trying to move up in life.

I hope Howie Long comes to your house and eats you- you deserve to be eaten

thought people might be marginally amused to learn of the new graduate business program.

Constructive criticism of schools is fine. Useless bashing is what detracts from the site especially from trolls sucks as PJC and TheRapist.

The OP had a legitimate question, although I disagree with posting the kids letter. If you are outside of east coast and don't follow NCAA basketball then you probably haven't heard of Villanova.

I didn't go to Villanova for undergrad so I really don't care either way when I hear random bashing. No one compared it to an Ivy, OP just wanted some information about the University.

Anthony, you are right that there is no need for useless bashing.

That said, your previous comment stated that Nova was "Ranked #11th for undergrad" with no explanation that this was undergrad business school, which is much different from overall undergrad... As a couple posters have noted, most targets don't even have undergrad business programs. To be honest I too have only heard of Nova in a basketball context as well, despite living in the Northeast. But that obviously doesn't mean the top 5-10 percent of kids aren't extremely smart/qualified.

Correct, I should have specified. Ranked 11th for undergrad business. Villanova is NOT an ivy. I am not familiar with the rest of the school so I cannot really speak to its quality.

You are correct, most Ivy league schools do not have undergrad programs.

It is a huge basketball school, in fact that is how I heard about it originally. I should clarify my comment and say that is more known in the East vs well known in the east. Not being know does not necessarily mean not a solid school though.

It is a good school, problems arise when you go from factual criticisms or general bashing/flaming to random, continual trolling.

You are right though Bud, I should have specified. Thanks.

I thought it was called Villanofun.

They have an alumni presence in NYC, but it's still a semi-target. Most people only know the school for its basketball program, and the one alum I do know from the business school is now an architect.

Villa-nofun and Vanilla-nova are the two I hear haha. The school is smack in the middle of a very wealthy township so it is no U of Miami. I think Semi-target would be an accurate description. Strong alumni presence in NYC as you mentioned. It is a Catholic University so it competes within that niche also.
