Why Should I, As A First Year Be Hired?
I'm a first year at a semi-target (Think Rotman, Schulich, Laurier), and I've been reaching out to a fuck ton of asset management firms.
One of the better firms that got back to me essentially sent me an email like this: You have a good GPA, but you're probably a dumbass first year. Why should we hire you over 3rd and 4th years? If you answer that we'll give you a shot at an interview.
What would you say in this situation?
Literally in the exact same position as you LMAO.
You should have an answer to that. Not us, you. The fact that you don't, I think, proves their point.
Not to bash you, just come up with something solid. Don't go back with a generic "I'm a hard worker" answer. Go back to them explaining why you're the best f*ing person for the job. Good luck mate. The interview is yours to lose at this point, sonny.
I front loaded a lot of finance classes, so even though I'm a second year, there is nothing a 3rd or 4th year can do in an internship that I can't.
I would say something along the lines of that but tailored to your situation.
Whoa, Canadians getting ballsy
