Role advice: distressed debt restructuring/market risk management
Hi All,
I am on a rotational analyst programme at a BB, and I need to choose my next rotation. Would market risk or distressed debt restructuring help me more if the goal is breaking into AM?
Thanks!
Distressed debt restructuring, market risk is a back office role
My thinking is that market risk will allow me to learn more about portfolio building, traded products, etc. which I could leverage to get into AM more easily - not so?
Yes, but as a portfolio analyst. Which is considered in between middle and front office. IMO debt restructuring with a hope to jump to debt in am would be more interesting.
RX sounds very interesting, as opposed to market risk.
Definitely distressed debt restructuring, no questions asked. Far more valuable given the current state of Fixed Income if you're interested in Credit Asset Management.
distressed, not even close
Go w/ RX restructuring.
F**k risk.
Debt Restructuring. In the next few years, you'll get a heck of a view and experience that could be very valuable down the road.
Even if you aren't very interested in it long term - the perspective will be invaluable.
