How helpful/reliable are connections' SO?
Say you have formed a connection with someone, someone who's not necessarily in your "dream" position. The someone mentions somewhere down the line his/her SO is at a "dream" position you want to be. How reliable would the SO be? What if the two break up badly mid-recruiting at the firm the SO is in? And the SO, seeing me as a good target to unleash their frustration at due to the connection between me and the ex, might screw me over during recruiting. Or, they break-up/fight after I am employed, with the SO as the referral, and the SO take their anger out on me.
Anyone have stories such as this or is it me being too worried?
