I'm hiring a VC associate

Update: Search closed (for now). Wow, what a response! I can't actually screen people at the rate they are coming in so let me pause my request for PMs to give me time to catch up. I'll come back to the forum if I don't find the right person. Thanks Monkeys.

Original post:

Typical VC gig - about 70% sourcing / 30% DD.

The sourcing component calls for someone who can grind through a cold outreach program, and schmooze for warm outreach. The DD component calls for a good understanding of tech trends, and the ability to think both conceptually and analytically.

Looking for someone who has worked for VCs before (though Big Tech, tech focused IB or HF/PE backgrounds will be considered).

Ideal candidate has startup and VC networks, and an MBA from a top program.

Im paying $100K base + $100K in guaranteed bonuses.

Job is in LA.

PM me.

What are the verticals your firm specializes in? I know a couple startups that are looking to start $15M+ raises over the next 12-18 months for growth investments.

Hi Mangoeldar,

Saw your post regarding the job post, was wondering if you guys still have an opening on the position by any chance? My previous background revolves working for kkr and blackrock backed unicorn in Indonesia and a conglomerate owned vc.

You worked for KKR and separately a Blackrock backed unicorn or for a unicorn backed by both KKR and Blackrock?

Your boy Blue:
What's the value of a VC associate with an MBA besides having a network? Just curious.

IMHO MBAs are mostly about the network, and this is no exception. The logic being that you could reach out to your classmates who now work in VC for follow-on/co-investment, or to your IB friends to help with exits. Its not a must though.

I think you're dead on. Was about to fwd this until I saw the MBA requirement.

FWIW - OP may have some luck snatching up one of the smarter analysts or associates at a "dial for dollars" VC fund. You'll save ~30% on comp I imagine and get someone with a clear understanding of sourcing and, potentially, an established network.
