Would you ever hire someone with a low GPA?

Wondering about this. I had a crappy freshman and sophomore year and ended sophomore with a 1.5. Not gonna get into details but I took some time off from school to work and came back, took a fifth year and now I pretty much have all As and have some decent experience. I am in my last semester of undergrad and I currently have a 2.8/4 and can get as high as a 2.925.

I want to know about this from the recruiting side. Would you ever hire someone if you saw their GPA was this bad? I have had interviews for Equity Research at boutique and MM firms and it has never come up once (I leave it off the resume). I’m just worried if it does come up it will be a ding no matter what.
