Connecting and network with analysts on linkedin
I have worked in Journalism covering a specific subsector in tech, I was wondering how I should go about and if it is normal to connect with senior analysts covering that sector on Linkedin. Eventually, I would like to be a part of a team covering this sector as an associate, I had interviews with some analysts covering the sector in the past.
Would it be considered ok to send a LinkedIn request with a note introducing myself, something along the lines of "I would like to connect and grow my network withing research and the XXXXX industry"?
Would senior analysts be open to LinkedIn requests?
I have a pretty solid background, internships in strat consulting etc, graduated in May but have been doing journalism for about a year.
Sure, if you have something to offer, even better - some stock write-up. For you, need to alleviate the concern about your ability to model and value businesses. Assume you can qualitatively assess company / industry, which is great.
