Deutsche Bank in Jacksonville?
I'm at a non-target, so we don't have much (if any) IB recruiting. However, Deutsche Bank recruits at my school, but its for the Jacksonville office. I've heard that DB does its operations in Jacksonville, but they have some front office positions as well, and they are recruiting for front office.
Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions on DB in Jacksonville? Potentially anyone who's worked there before? This might be my only chance to get a front office position from my school, but I want to make sure its legit.
I have some connections at some small boutiques where I can probably get an internship, but they are no-name firms so I would think DB is still better because of the brand name.
Honestly, in my opinion, anything is better than nothing-even if it’s not the exact city you want. DB, while people may take shots at it, is a major bank and still is going to hire the best of the best it can get in IB.
I do not know much about their deal flow in JAX or the reputation of the boutiques you are referencing, but I think wherever you will get the best overall learning/IB experience and the best opportunity post-college is where I would go.
Anecdotal, but I can almost guarantee if you were to network to a boutique IB, and make equal comp, in South Florida you would be happy. Have a friend that is in M&A in South Florida and is never leaving. A lot better than NYC and a lot of money there too.
South Florida has such few IB firms I could probably give you a list of 5 and it would be there.
I interviewed with that office ad was told that they spend a lot of time supporting NY operations. IB is IB if you can get it.
Jacksonville office is an extension of the Wall Street office so you will be doing exactly the same work as in NYC. A lot of interaction with the main office and no regional/geographical focus. DB doesn't do M&A in Jax, but the main desks are Lev Fin and S&T.
Good culture and office environment, plus you live by the ocean and pay is good. Should definitely apply and if you don't like the office there is extensive internal mobility between Jax and NYC offices.
Thanks! How do you know about the mobility and the culture? Have you heard about it from others or have you interned there? Wondering since you are an intern as well.
bump
In addition to what everyone else has said as well DB has great mobility between offices and many that start in Jacksonville are given the opportunity to transfer to New York/Chicago/London offices if they can show they do good work.
Awesome, that's what I'm looking for. Thanks!
The downside of course, is having to live in Jacksonville
Pretty sure that's the upside. Low COL, beach, Town Center, weather.
I invite you to live here for two weeks so you can understand what I'm talking about
