Number of slacks/shirts in your wardrobe?
So I'm in the midst of upgrading my wardrobe, how many shirts and slacks should I have in my arsenal? Right now I have 5 pants and 5 shirts that I rotate, but is that enough? I'm leaning towards buying a few more pairs of both just so I have a bigger lineup. Thoughts?
usually I get more shirts...I feel like if you get 7-8 slacks and ~10-14 shirts, that should be enough...I say 14 shirts because it's nice not to have to go to the dry cleaners so often
10 x 10
laundry/cleaners twice a month
i didn't know you are british.
I have around 10 pairs of slacks and probably 30 button down shirts. I wanted to be able to go an entire month without having to visit the dry cleaners. I wear my slacks 2 or 3 times before they go back to the cleaners. I just hit them with the steamer in the morning and they look like they came from the cleaners.
only 5 shirts? dang i have enough shirts to last me about 3 weeks with out repetition. But i also hate doing laundry - the biggest waste of my time i find, especially ironing. So my solution - buy tons of clothes, and always get laundered (outsource that shit).
i have only about 6 slacks though (not including suits)
I'd guess I have about 15 shirts and 10-12 pants. I need to buy a few new shirts as 2 or 3 of them are really for backup while I'm waiting to for my dry cleaning. I'm probably a little heavy on pants, but I found some awesome deals a few months ago so I bought a bunch.
To me, ideal would be 15-20 shirts and 8-10 pants.
I agree with ppandey. I only have 4 slacks but you gotta go heavy on the shirts, especially if you prefer not to do laundry very often
1 shirt, 1 pants. Laundry once a year.

I didn't know you were FrenchI have probably 25 shirts and 10 slacks/suit pants. I probably wear 4 of those pants and 8 of those shirts. I also wear both a few times before cleaning (unless they get some sort of stain). A steamer works wonders keeping clothes crisp and fresh
About 6-8 slacks, 3 suits, and 15-20 shirts. Wear shirts twice before laundering (undershirts are key). Wear pants several times before laundering. Do my own shirt laundry once a month.
I have like 15-20 button downs that i rotate, and literally 3 pairs of polo slacks that i wear. Pants dont get dirty, unless you shit your pants..
So that's what I've been doing wrong?!?
Regards
Haha
5 shirts 2 slacks 1 pair shoes
livin the life
Fine leather goods.
1 pair of shoes? Those wouldn't last me long, I have a bunch in various colors (black, brown, tanish, oxblood)

How many dress shirts do you have on rotation?
How often do you go to laundry them? (once a week? month? 2 months?)
about 25 or so
Has been discussed before.
Around 15, laundry whenever I have time
About 10. Full 2 week supply. Wash them myself every other weekend.
I'm pretty sure that's a good way to destroy all your shirts in just a few months. Wear it more than once before washing/pressing.
about 20, depending on the shirt wash after 2 times usually
Counted recently after shopping: 43 and bunch of sport shirts. I have 10 cuffed shirts and use them regularly because I collect cufflinks and like to wear them. They also look more classy than regular cuff and I would totally recommend them. All my VPs and MDs wear them. Are other monkeys' shirts initialed at the cuff? I was thinking about doing it. What do you guys think about putting your initials on the cuffs?
About a dozen...wear each one at least twice before washing/pressing them.
40 or so. Do not wash them after every use, they are not undershirts or underwear. I love Brooks non iron.
25-30. Usually wear 10-15 on the reg.
I have about 12 dress shirts, slightly more than a 2 week supply. Dry clean, no starch.
Only counting ones that fit and are appropriate to wear to work, I probably have between 20-25.
How Many Shirts In Your Wardrobe?? (Originally Posted: 03/13/2013)
So I realized yesterday I have a ridiculous amount of shirts that have accumulated over the past 3 years. I counted 105- about 60 were dress shirts and the rest business casual. I probably have about 25 polo's that I rotate through the summer. Is this an excessive amount to have?
You can use that as a talking point when networking at the fitness club's smoothie bar.
Looks like you haven't seen my update slim..... Don't worry I won't hold your condescending words against you when you're asking me for a job!!
I saw it. Don't believe it. Pics or it didn't happen.

Yeah, that was weeks ago before I discovered the power of networking at the gym. While you were cowering behind your keyboard, attempting to network by sending out emails that no one is even going to open, I was out there putting it all on the line. Walking directly up to the MD and flexing on him until he capitulated by offering me a job. That's the difference between winners and losers. I'll be having bottle service tonight, while you're guzzling your choice of natty or beast. I'll be bedding a model, while you're wasting away another night doing the five finger knuckle shuffle. I could go on and on but you get the idea. BTW I'm still looking for a secretary if your interested. We need to work on that attitude of yours though.

Excellent troll lol
...........YES! How many shades of grey do you have, dawg? Pink?
Actually, you should wear each shirt, in order, twice, and obtain ultimate utility from them.120 days without washing them.
btw you can never have too many polos. 25 polos? Step your game up, dawg, it's time to get 25 Brook Brothers polos.
Disclaimer: I'm drunk, dawg.
I have several brooks brothers polo's but i find them a little trashy to be honest. As a result they are seldom worn. Most of them are j press, but I do have a few Duchamp's that I wear from time to time.
why would you waste so much money when you could have 15-20 and just rotate them? you think anybody in the office gives a shit?
pretty sure me and the OP don't have enough space in their closet for 105 shirts
w.t.f.
SirTrades just dropped a bomb. On a serious note I think I have 15 dress shirts and 10 polos or so. Who wears polos outside of work or golf? Is this middle school?
I wear ralph lauren polos all the time in the summer just normally. Then again I never quite know what I'm doing.
About 20 dress shirts, about 5 casual button downs. Like 3 polos I think, solely worn during golf.
Do not speak that way about the Bros
I own about 20 shirts and, unfortunately, 30 polos. I rarely wear polos anymore... just collected them when I thought they were cool during the college years. Now I rather just wear a t-shirt or a casual shirt.
Those lacoste polos aren't looking so good anymore with my bulging belly.
Now I started hording socks. Purchased a dozen Viccel socks... great price for the quality. I wish I wasn't into attire but it's always something.
Starting to feel the same about polo's myself.... I'm a sock guy too. I have a drawer full of pantherella's. I haven't heard of Viccel, I'll have to check them out!
I had a gut for a little while. I think Lacoste looks much better than any other Polo I've tried except maybe Eddie Bauer. Lacoste classic polos are made normal, not for scrawney sticks like Polo.
I have at least 50 pairs of shoes
Ya I have about 20 dress shirts, 10 casual, 10 polos. I think I have too many at that. I call bullshit.
