Super Bowl XLVII - The Commercials Edition

Hello fellow monkeys !

As the Super Bowl approaches, we all focus on the most significant event happening this week : the halftime break. Some of you - okay most of you - have probably been procrastinating on Youtube and seen the videos, but everybody loves a good old list.

Here's a selection of what you will see Sunday :

Mercedes-Benz : This can be summarized easily.
Pro : Kate Upton
Con : Not enough Kate Upton

Audi : I never got the opportunity to go to prom, that's probably why I like it. Pretty solid ad though, especially considering how it hits its target. If you're a teenager/youg adult, an Audi will make you the cool kid on the block, plus you get to kiss the hot girl. If you're a middle-aged dad, your son will stop hating you if you buy an Audi and let him drive every once in a while. Two birds, one stone.

Doritos : As usual, Doritos is holding its competition to see which fan-created commercial will be shown during the Bowl. The following video presents all 5 finalists. Some are good, some are not so good, but you still get about 4:30 of Ali Landry being hot.

Axe : Everybody hates Axe, okay, but you got to give them props for their 2013 ad. Between the tiny "Fictionalization." at the bottom of the screen and the nerdy astronaut on a beach, this commercial is hilarious. They definitely know their audience.

Volkswagen : Bad jokes come to mind when Germany and racism are combined in the same sentence, but some people were outraged by this ad. One guy wasn't : Jaimaica's minister of tourism and entertainment who sees it as a compliment. I'll let you guys make up your mind ...

Allstate : Weird beginning, but a pretty good commercial in general. The ending is actually a good commercial slogan. Bonus : the referee joke at the end, exactly what you'd want during the biggest NFL game of the season.

Budweiser : Probably the worst comercial this year. I can only see one explanation : Budweiser is really worried about its US market share, more precisely in the Midwest. You don't want to think about farms and tradition when watching the Super Bowl, you want violence, special effects, and sexy ladies.

If you monkeys want to continue procrastinating, here's a LIST with other commercials scheduled to air during the game.

Bonus clip : Yeah, too bad it was rejected.

Does anyone else think Kate Upton is really not that hot?

She is hot, but I don't know why she gets so much buzz. I mean there are plenty of girls that are as hot as her, but they dont get as much attention.

Its her networking skill.

those girls do not do the cat daddy.

Because when you're in a room full of smart people, smart suddenly doesn't matter—interesting is what matters.

Exactly my sentiment. Her legs are not that hot. She does not have a waist. For a top model, I don't see the fuzz. That's the power of boobs in action.

Definitely think Kate Upton is overhyped. Rosie Huntington-Whitely is ten thousand times better. Other than that, I'm sure Walter made mistakes on purpose in the scene with Bar Rafaeli.

Achiever in college from freshman year: Rainmaker. Hustler in college from junior year: More than you initially hoped for. Dreamer in college from senior year: Top closer for 4 man boutique in Idaho in toilet lid M&A Everyone else: Dunkin Donuts.

The guy prestigious enough to be elected prom king in the Audi commercial probably drove a BMW... the takeaway: Audis get no respect, and neither do their owners.

But actually, the Audi design has improved remarkably in the last few years.

I wouldn't say that BMWs get respect either. Some Audis kick ass, even though a Mercedes will always come across as more prestigious.

From what I've seen, it depends mostly on age. Mercedes is known as an old man's car these days, I rarely see anyone under 40 driving one (even if it's an AMG). BMW is more for the younger, 'sporty' crowd. Audi's still carry a 'couldn't afford a BMW' chip around with them, although ever since Audi switched up the design in 09' they've become much more popular.

WTF are you talking about? If you can afford a BMW, you can afford an Audi. This conversation sounds like a joke to me, I hope my sarcasm detector is functioning.

The only thing I agree with is that Mercedes is basically an old man's car.
