Group Interview

Interview

Applied online and received an initial phone screening from their recruiter. The phone interview consisted of basic questions and tell me about your background. This was followed by a group interview with an associate and another colleague who asked more probing questions about background, skills, and education. The final interview was with the department's hiring manager who again asked about the background, resume walk-through, why their group, and a brain teaser.

Interview Questions

The hiring manager asked a few specific questions about client and relationship management that were unexpected. Was most focused on discussing technical or analytical skills but focused on more quantitative questions.

Interview

I applied online in late June and did not hear back about first-round until October. Once I did hear back for a first-round interview, the process was extremely quick. I had a phone-interview, then a one-on one with an associate and then finally a superday that consisted of three interviews. I was offered the position in mid November.

Interview

My interview is about the tech role. Both NYC and London office employees interviewed me. The interview questions are not hard, both behavioral and technical- basically why blackrock, why finance, why tech, some behavior questions about the resume and teamwork, and some technical questions about python. The MDs are nice, easy to talk with.

Interview Questions

Python related questions. More concepts rather than application. I forgot some concepts since I learned Python years ago.

Hirevue -> Video Interview (2 rounds, 30 minutes each)

Hirevue Questions were standard:
-Tell me about something not on your CV
-Greatest Achievement (Or something along these lines)

1 on 1 Interviews:
-Why finance, why AM, why BlackRock? (Had this in both rounds, probably how they warm up interviewees)
-Tested on BlackRock Values, how your experiences demonstrate that
- Scenario Based questions (You have 3 funds with X metrics. Which fund do you recommend? Lets say the fund you recommended does poorly compared to the other two funds, how do you justify this to the investor?)

Background Check

Interview

The interview process itself was easy and relatively organized. It consisted of several rounds of behavioral and interviews with different team members. The time between interviews was long and the recruiter often promised specific timelines that did not track. Expect long wait periods and be persistent in reaching out to the recruiter for updates.
