The number you see in the middle of the doughnut pie chart is the simple average of these scores. If you hover over the various sections of the donut, you will see the % breakdown of each score given.

The percentile score in the title is calculated across the entire Company Database and uses an adjusted score based on Bayesian Estimates (to account for companies that have few interview insights). Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Got contacted by a recuiter for their Asia NPL focused investment team. They are looking for someone with strong modelling skills with experience in at least one of the following areas: NPL, real estate or credit / leverage finance

Went to meet the MD, half fit questions half technical, depending on your background. I can from a levfin background so my questions were centered around credit analysis. I had to take extra steps to show my interest in real estate

Interview Questions

Interview was not particularly difficult. I believe because I am an experienced hire - 2 yr experience - so the MD's questions are mostly on the deals I've done. Know your deals inside out!! Questions were centered on:

1) Term Sheet - what are the important terms in a particular deal
2) Cash flow - what makes a company in a distressed state, what are the important items we should look at
3) Real estate and NPL market - state of the current market and outlook

Difficult part for me was to show my interest in real estate NPL in China

Interview

First stage was an initial consultation with the recruiter who saw my niche expertise was a good fit for a small sub-team fund for their client. The first stage was therefore about impressing the recruiter enough by illustrating my passion for the space and role as well as communicating my understanding of the firm and the career trajectory that I wanted to pursue.

Second stage consisted of 2 interviews. One with a partner/MD which discussed more questions around fit, previous experience and goals. The second interview was with their senior analyst, and discussed my experience and then delving into the more technical aspects of deals I have worked on, particularly around modelling.

Third stage I met with more members of the team, including another partner and a VP. This had a slight technical focus, but again was centered mainly around transactions I have worked on, view on the asset class and industry and then some investment idea questions.

Interview Questions

If you could invest anywhere in the world right now, where would you invest (which country) and what asset class (within credit)?
How would you value the debt of this company / portfolio?

Interview

The interview process was not your typical phone/campus interview, then final office visit progression. Three rounds of office visits over the course of about 2 weeks. Met with probably 25 people in total, from all levels. Got all kinds of questions, from standard fit and technicals to drilling down on details of deals listed in resume - even got the "Why should I hire you?" question. It was probably the most intense interview process I've been through. Prepare for the technicals so you can nail them, and know your resume and story inside and out. Also need to have a very good understanding of finance and private equity, as they will ask you technical-type questions that really aren't really covered in any of the interview guides. Office was nice, and people seemed pretty easy to get along with.

Interview Questions

Tell me about this deal you listed on your resume, and how you would evaluate it as an investment.
