Interview
Had an on-campus interview for the firm, we are typically considered a non-target but they do OCR here. They flew in, and took many of us out for dinner the night before 1st rounds -- this dinner allowed us to meet our interviewers as well as other current employees at the firm. The first round was a one-on-one, primarily technical interview. TMABYS and "Why Moelis?" were asked, but only those, so high differentiation was required (believe this is where I failed). After that, an on-the-guides accounting question, off-guides M&A accretion/dilution question where you have to ask for numbers, and an off-guides debt waterfall question was asked. Lastly, there were questions about differences between bank and high-yield debt. I did not get an offer.
Interview Questions
The most unexpected/difficult interview question asked was an off-the-guides interview question about M&A accretion dilution. You are given the companies' p/e ratios as well as earnings and multiple, told that this company is acquired at a 20% premium, but that's all.

You must network and then get in touch with HR, who will set you up for an interview if it is a fit.

In total:

- couple of behavioral screens
- technical-heavy 1st round
- and I assume there's another round + a super day before offers

The interview is pretty tough -- lots of "non-guide" technicals and harder behaviorals. A few about industry interest, and a good amount poking at "why Moelis office X?"

Pretty serious in nature, but the people are nice and fair. I heard back a couple of weeks later that I was not getting a super day. Overall, it was a positive experience and got me to step up my game going forward.
Interview Questions
Really digging into past internship experience and anything technical they can get from that. Make sure you can speak to your resume and experiences very well. There were also questions about tranches of debt and some LBO and Merger Model math.
