Interview

I met first with two senior analysts, separately. Then I had a phone interview with the Director of Research. A few weeks later I was asked to submit a writing sample. A week later I was asked to summarize a press release. After that, I had a second round of interviews with the same analysts and also the Head of Investment Banking for the sector.

Interview Questions

There weren't any difficult or unexpected questions. They asked the typical why do you want to work here, where do you want to be in 5 years, how do you fit in with our team. The most important aspects were being personable and my writing samples. Be prepared with work samples! And then be prepared to write something off the cuff so to speak. The company wanted to know if I could take one of their companies and write a note or report on a company update. They also liked that I got the work samples back to them quickly.

Interview

The process was great, I had an initial phone interview with the hiring manager. This was followed by an in person interview that lasted around 3 hours. I met with the hiring manager, met with a couple managing partners of the firm, met with a couple equity analysts and finally some traders. They did some internal consulting and decided to move me forward to the next phase. I had to read a few different research reports and answer questions about them, talk about how I would pitch the companies to investors, find the salient points, look for errors or omissions, and decide what was important to convince someone to invest in those companies.

Interview Questions

Mostly fit. The "toughest" question they asked was how to value a company...name a few different ways. Which do you think is best? How do you value a company with no revenues or profits?

Interview

I got the interview through a referral. The interview was very straightforward. Talked about why I choose finance as my major? Why I was interested in equity research and etc? The whole interview process was very conversational. It did not really consist of the interviewer asking me direct questions. We talked a lot about where I was from and sports. Overall, it was a good experience and the interviewer was laid back.

Interview

I found the position online. After submitting my resume the Director of Sales called and set up a brief phone interview. After the phone interview, I came into the office for a group interview, and met the Director, a Managing Partner, and an equity analyst. Asked basic technical questions but ,mostly all fit. The interview lasted about 1.5hrs. A few days after the Director sent me a research report, and had me illustrate what I thought was most critical for buy side. I sent my reply, and shortly after I was offered the position.

Interview Questions
