The process began with a leaderless group discussion. We were given a case and 10 minutes to read it individually. Then, in a group of seven candidates, we discussed the case and proposed a solution while the interviewers observed. At the end of that session, three candidates were told they would move on to a final one-to-one interview.

The final interview covered my previous experience, why I wanted to join Unilever, and technical questions related to the role. I received an internship offer two days later. My advice would be to use the reading time to identify the main problem and come prepared with a clear recommendation, while also listening to and building on other candidates’ ideas during the discussion.
Interview Questions
How would you identify the cause of a backlog in the delivery process, and what would you recommend to resolve it?

This was the case discussed in the leaderless group discussion. We had 10 minutes to read the case before discussing our analysis and proposed solutions in a group of seven.
I was asked technical questions on basic supply chain theory during the final one-to-one interview. I do not recall the exact wording of each question, but they tested textbook concepts, so I would recommend reviewing supply chain fundamentals before the interview.

After submitting your application, in a couple of days there will be an email asking you to do an online assessment. It's like an intelligence test where they assess your numerical and verbal skills. After that, there will be some sort of HireVue-like interview where you have to answer questions related to your motivation and behavior.

Once you’ve finished that, around 2 weeks later, you will be contacted for a focus group discussion with around 4 other people. You are given a set of problems that you must discuss and solve together while using Excel (I believe this is to show your hard skills in data analytics).

Once you’ve finished that, the interviewers (there are 3) will go out of the room, then in about 10 minutes they will tell who will move on. After that, there’s an interview with them, but it feels more like a vibe check.

After applying, you are asked to take a 30-minute personality test ranking your values within four given options for each question. After the personality test, you are asked to take a numerical and verbal reasoning test that takes around 30 minutes to complete. In the numerical test, it asks simple questions related quantitative data and scenarios. And for the verbal reasoning test, you are given a prompt and must ask a specific question about that prompt in multiple choice. As long as you read the question and prompt carefully it is very simple to answer.

The unexpected part of the interview is that there is no time limit to the tests and questions. However, you are recommended to complete them within 30 minutes and in one sitting back to back.

It is not too hard if you have a general business knowledge. Got invited to interview in New Jersey with all expenses paid for. - Invited to complete numerical test, pretty standard, provider is SHL.
- Invited to telephone interview. It took place about 1.5 months after submitting my online application. Telephone interview consisted of situational questions (have a look at their Standards of Leadership; they base their questions on each one of them), plus motivational questions (why Unilever) and questions about the role (what role do you think Finance plays at Unilever).
Interview Questions
I had not prepared enough for the situational questions, so do prepare examples for each of the Standards of Leadership. Personally I was asked:
- On "Growth mindset": "Tell me about a time when you took initiative". They will then give you probing questions, for me it was "What would you have done differently?".
- On "Bias for action": "Tell me about a time when you had to make a difficult decision, and influenced others to take course". This is the one I had not prepared for, and it caught me off guard.
