Big Thank You, Need Advice

Background: I am a junior from a non-target who signed an offer yesterday to work as a summer analyst for a well known asset manager in the area.

I just wanted to give a quick thank you to WSO and everyone who has helped me land my top choice for a summer program. Without reading this site everyday I wouldn't have been nearly as prepared to network into this company and nail the interviews.

Advice: The firm has three divisions; equities, fixed income and property management. I am mainly interested in equities, and they have eluded to the fact that I am one of the top candidates for the team. They only take 2-3 interns per division with the rest being placed in compliance and other back office roles (about 15 total interns). My question is, how appropriate would it be to reach out to current members of the equity team and try to network in with them to secure a spot in this division. I have heard a lot of SA's starting IBD or S&T programs doing the same to try and secure a spot on the desk or team they want. My only concern is that it is a smaller office and it could come across as pushy/annoying, considering that HR told me they will be assigning teams in April/May.

Any advice would be appreciated. I would not be opposed to working in fixed income/property but would much rather be on the equity team. Thanks in advance.
