Operations Middle Office or Asset Management Reporting role

Hi everyone,

Some advice needed here.

I get out from the university about 5 years ago and currently working towards the final CFA exam in June. I have been working in a custody operations role in an international bank. I am possibly having two choices for my next career move: (1) a Middle Office Client Servicing role in Custody Operations of an Investment Bank; (2) an Investment reporting role in the Asset Management division of an Investment Bank.

The (1) Client servicing team seems to be expanding. A good chance to move into a Client Service role in operations. Alternatively, the (2) Investment reporting role is migrating some of the functions offshore but it looks like a good opportunity to break into the asset management from operations. There would be some more options to explore in the area after migration, like projects or client service.

Which gives a better prospect on my future career path?

Cheers,
