Based on the most helpful WSO content, the PIMCO Internal Sales role involves supporting an "external" who is out in the field meeting with advisors every day. As an "internal", you would be responsible for following up on meetings, pitching over the phone, running competitive analysis reports, and driving sales campaigns.

The goal for most people in this role is to eventually become an "external" themselves, which is when you start making real money and have your own book of clients. Internals usually make between $75k-$150k, working 9-5 pretty much, while externals at the firm can make between $300k-$800k (base+commission+discretionary bonus).

However, it's important to note that moving from an internal sales role into an investing role at PIMCO might be challenging. They typically hire people with experience in Investment Banking or Investing related roles for those positions.

Remember, every monkey can dress up in a suit, but only the smart ones know how to climb the corporate tree!

Know several folks in this role. The above description is pretty accurate. Good opportunity to learn the FI space from the leader in FI AND generate revenue which is the key to all business. Not a technical role per say (modeling, investing) but one that requires the ability to take all that information (massive amounts of info), distill it, understand it, and communicate it with a purpose. Very underrated skill to those outside the business or new to the workforce. Very valuable skillset to those who actually know how business works.

Great foundation to move further into sales or shift into product mgmt.
