Quantitative FI vs fundamental Career questions

I just entered a fundamental FI fund as a quant analyst as I graduated with math finance background. I’m a bit unsure of my career progression. May I ask several questions here:
For fundamental credit, they can hire new analyst to cover more book. But in the rates team, I observed it’s the head PM who is speaking macro view and makes decisions on trsding government bond. How can other members under the rates team expand the role? Like the PM doesn’t need others to tell him the macro view right? especially for me as a quant in a fundamental shop?
Can anyone share the insight of macro quant or quant rates? What kinda model are u working on, and wut u think of the future of macro quant vs macro fundamental rates investing?
How are people doing with quant credit today? What kinda strategy is used in ur firm/hedge fund?
In short, I am trying to see as a quant, what’s my future in the fixed income/rates investing industry. Shall I keep staying in fundamental FI, or shall I explore building more quant bond skills. Thanks very much!
