29Y.O. - MiM at T1 Uni Next Fall, Too Old?

Hi all,

I’m 29yo and I’ll be starting MiM at a T1 European Business School next fall. My experience is too short for MBA (2 years only), and honestly theres too much uncertainty in waiting a year or two to go for MBA. I wanted to do my post grad and break into MBB consulting

This is all fine so far. However, I had meetings with some of the admits in my cohort and many of them are quite literally 20-21 years old. This was pretty demoralizing. I was hoping there might be some 24-27 year olds whom I can relate to. But I felt a little out of place.

What do you guys think? tough it out, accept that some folks decide a career change later down the line, and go for it - or reconsider?

I was at Bain as an ACI at 28 and will be joining as an AC1 at 29. Prior enlisted. I know how you feel, but my mindset is that it's still the best available option as I get ready to launch my new life.

FWIW, everyone on the leadership team that I spoke with took the extra grey hairs as a tailwind. When I wrap up my SAC year at 32, I'll have options my 18-year-old self could've only dreamed of.

That's awesome, thanks for sharing. Takes strong character to go through the ranks like that and I'm sure you're going to look back proudly.
