A&M’s PEPI group hours

Was wondering if anyone had insight into A&M’s PEPI group—It looks to be heavy on due dilligence for PortCos. Have really be struggling with burnout with banking, but potentially have the opportunity to leave IB for it. Anyone have insight into the hours here. I know A&M does a pretty nice comp structure and it seems PEPI has been doing pretty well there so far. But am looking to establish somewhat more of a WLB where I’m not on call every hour of everyday except for Saturday.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Alvarez & Marsal's PEPI (Private Equity Performance Improvement) group is known for being heavy on due diligence and operational improvement for portfolio companies. While specific hours for PEPI aren't detailed in the context, it's worth noting that roles outside of traditional investment banking, such as those in operational consulting or performance improvement, often offer slightly better work-life balance compared to IB. However, this can vary depending on the team, workload, and client demands.

If you're transitioning from IB and seeking better work-life balance, PEPI could potentially be a step in the right direction. That said, it's still a high-performance environment, so expect demanding hours, though likely less intense than the "on-call every hour" nature of banking.

Super helpful! I also had a Q about how PEPI is split up and whether at the junior level you generalize within the group or verticalize within M&A services, working capital, etc.
