Anyone heard or had experience with McMaster-Carr Management Program? Got a non-tech offer that pay significantly more than MBB
Basically title. Just got a straight out of undergrad offer for almost 100k base salary with a profit-sharing bonus(based on company profit) ranging anywhere from 33%-50%(past two years had been 50%+) and a retirement plan that is 25% of total comp. Also 10k for relocation. Sounds way too good for a non-tech position so wondering if you guys know more about it?
I looked into this a while back after one of their recruiters reached out. If you look at their glassdoor reviews and search specifically for “management development” or “management trainee”, the reviews are pretty scathing to say the least. In summary it seems like a pretty openly toxic workplace culture with multiple people over the span of several years complaining about gaslighting, sexism, ass kissing, and other pretty bs stuff. 8/10 of the most recent (2020-2016) reviews are one and two star.
I’ll be honest, comp is one of the most important things for me when considering opportunities, but those reviews were enough to turn me off.
I should have trusted my due diligence and the reviews. It's the same now as it was in the 2014 WSO thread. Left after a year. For future applicants. The state of McMaster-Carr 10 years later in 2024: https://www.reddit.com/r/consulting/comments/1cvpokw/my_exemployer_mcma…
Wow that sounds like great compensation ! Any idea from you / others about how it scales ?
This place was exactly as Glassdoor reviews described and it's still the same way it was 10+ years ago: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/corporate/mcmaster-carr-managemen…. If you come here expecting either you or the place will change for the better, you are in a world of hurt. There are so many fundamental flaws that condemn this place to be a forever toxic place unless there are major house cleanings at the top.

TLDR: If you're toxic, there's more worthy places to climb. If you aren't toxic, you will either be disgusted or turn toxic. This place will tank your resume/career progression if you stay for more than 2-3 years. Small people stay here for the small money. This company is blacklisted by Harvard College and Williams College from recruiting. There’s also an employee class action lawsuit against them rn.
