Apple/Google hiring doctors?

Current medical student @ non HYW ivy looking into jobs outside of PCP and hospital practice. Going through linkedin, I noticed big tech companies, particulary google health & to a lesser extent apple, are hiring quite a few doctors as clinical leads/strategists and VPs. A lot of them seem to come from prestigious schools (ucsf, vagelos, etc.) and have MD/PhD background or top residency. Does anyone have any insight on the recruiting pipeline for such positions or transitioning from med school to medtech in general, particularly in the silicon valley/FAANG companies?

From what I’ve seen (not personal experience):

Apple: you’re looking at mainly cardiology physicians for the wearables. Most positions have stated necessary clinical experience for multiple years

Google: similar idea, usually some years of clinical experience, with some more business-y or management experience

My frank impression is that you’ll need some clinical experience to go into these medtech projects. Otherwise, I’ve seen people transition through MBA, consulting, finance, or finding a good opportunity after some clinical years.
