Are many MBBs making juniors work IB hours but not giving IB pay?

My gf works at an MBB and she regularly works from 9am to 10pm and sometimes more if it is a CDD projects She does a couple of hours on Sunday too just to be prepped for Monday so ends up Touching 70* hours.

howrver her pay is pretty much capped at $200k even with their bonuses whereas mine is hitting $330k+ easy and we both are 1.5 years in post MBA.

is her case such where she is working way too many hours relative to the average consultant? If this is standard then I feel she is being underpaid.

Obv all things considered consulting has better WLB. Weekends are guaranteed almost always and takingPTO and time off for a bunch of Weeks is not an issue at all. However considering the vast difference in pay I’m not sure if that compensates for a >$100k difference.

what’s the catch I’m missing?
