Associate role at Strategy& Deals London
Hi everyone!
I recently received an offer from strategy& deals team for an entry level role in London and I just wanted to get an idea regarding the career progression, work life balance and exit opportunities from here on? WSO forum has a lot to say on the culture at strategy& but a majority of them seemed to be US focussed. Would really appreciate some inputs specific to the deals team in London.
Thank you
Hi Anonymous008, whoops, looks like nobody chimed in here.... maybe one of these discussions below is relevant:
More suggestions...
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Am currently at Strategy& Deals and am enjoying myself! Career progression and exit opps seem to be on par with other MBB / Tier 2s in London. Granted, placement into megafund PE is rare and probably less so than MBB, but I doubt that MBB / consulting as a whole is a strong feeder into megafund PE in London anyway. WLB can vary depending on project / client, but there is an emphasis on wellbeing and ensuring that people do not burn out.
Feel free to dm / reach out if you have any additional questions!
apologies for being ignorant, what is the difference between deals and corporate strategy? is deals just cdd projects? and is there opportunity to move from deals to corporate strategy?
Deals team primarily focus on due diligence projects while corporate strategy team focus on the ‘classic’ strategy projects (Eg. Market Entry, Portfolio strategy, etc)
Honestly its a bit of both - I've done both "classic" strategy projects and DDs, and while we tend to do more DDs, most of our folks have done a fair amount of strategy work. People in S& deals and corporate can be cross-staffed either way so being in one does not decisively lock you into a certain "type" of project
What's the base salary + SO bonus, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks.

What are bonuses like for SAs? The bonus looks small on glassdoor, 2k avg it says?
Thanks! Is that for Deals or is it likely the same across different teams?
thats quite low relative to other Tier 2s/MBB, no? do you know what the other firms pay?
these are pre-raise numbers btw!
TC has recently been increased by c.20%
42k is very low, 35 is even worst ffs
