Hi guys, I am applying to full-time and I was curious if there was a large difference in opportunity between the two. I understand both offices are great, but I was curious more about moving the PE. Does it really even matter which one since they are both considered to be competitive locations?

Doesn't matter. But might get better projects in Boston since thats the HQ. Just do a rotation in PEG.
You'll have the same set of opportunities available for the most part. 2 things you should consider though -
1) Most of the firms you'll be interviewing for (as well as most of the search firms) will be located in NYC, so it'll likely be easier to interview around from a logistical perspective. This matters; as someone who works in MBB at a non-NYC office, I've seen people turn down interviews during peak recruiting season because they were imposing too much physical stress to what's an already hectic lifestyle. Boston won't be too bad, but still.
2) I do think Boston has a much stronger culture than NYC because it is Bain's flagship office. There are more senior partners around, and I think there's a lot of value in that.
Makes sense. So, assuming I can handle the travel (hopefully), it seems that Boston would have a slight edge over NYC. Thanks guys
Doesn't matter. What may matter more is what PEG partners are in each office as that'll dictate what industries you're more likely to cover. If that doesn't matter to you, go where you want to live or which folks you connect with more.
Thanks gjm8q! That makes sense. So, there may or may not be a difference, and even if there was, it would be marginal. On a tangent, are there other offices on par with Boston/NYC? I imagine SF.
All offices are pretty solid. Chicago is great too.
