Bain lateral recruiting

Hey Guys,

I was hoping one of the monkeys here would have a sense of which of the US Bain offices is growing quickly and/or is stretched thin? I'm looking to lateral and that seems to be my best best. (Feel free to PM) Hoping I can then do some targeted networking.

I'm a pre-MBA consultant at a small boutique firm - unfortunately one of our major clients has started tightening up, and as a result my firm announced layoffs. I've been looking at corporate strategy roles in addition to a few consulting firms that I would take over that. I've managed to land interviews at BCG and a few elite boutiques - networked with a bunch of alums and had them push for me. However I haven't had much luck with Bain, hence the positing.

Appreciate any help here.

Thanks,

Interesting, this was my experience as well. I had a killer referral (Partner) at BCG and a very soft one (brand new BA) at McK that scored me phone screens and interviews a few years back when I was trying to go the lateral route. Two solid referrals at Bain (AC2s) yielded bupkis.

Keep trying, but focus on the interviews you have. Since you're pre-MBA, you always have the option I ended taking: MBA->MBB.

I know Bain is trying to grow their DC office, so you might want to check that out. They've been transferring people in from other offices, so a lateral might be what they're after at this point.
