Bain Online Test
Can people who have taken the Bain online test (Cubiks RfB Numerical Reasoning) clarify what's on it please?
1. Are all of the questions data interpretation questions based on tables & graphs? (my test page just says RfB Numerical Reasoning)?
2. If there are verbal/critical reasoning questions, what kind? True/False/Can't Say? Assessing the logic of arguments?
3. Any diagrammatic questions (sometimes called inductive reasoning, with patterns and shapes)?
4. Any geometry?
5. Any probability?
6. Any permutations/combinatorics?
7. Any number properties (e.g. divisibility, primes)?
8. Any advice for how to practice? Is any section of the GMAT similar to these questions?
And regarding the rules of the test:
9. Are you allowed to skip questions? Or do you need to choose an answer in order to proceed to the next question?
10. Are you allowed to return to an answer once you've answered/skipped it?
11. Is there a penalty for wrong answers or do you simply not receive any points?
12. How many questions are on the test?

Curious, what track are you on? I went through AC FT recruiting and didn't do this. McKinsey also got rid of their PST for BA and MBA Associates. Only APD hires have to take it now.
A bit crazy to test MDs and PhDs but not MBAs/BAs on analytics -- but after thinking about it more, perhaps they've retained it for its subjective portion (i.e. the group case that's allegedly not evaluated).
AC recruiting, but for Bain's London office. Pretty sure it's standard for UK recruiting.
Not sure how Cubiks. But for SHL Direct, there were lots of graphs and table. No inductive reasoning, geometry, probability. It was basically understanding what exactly is the question asking and then calculating it based on the information that is presented. What makes it challenging is that you have to be extremely efficient in time.

It's a very simple test - much much easier than the McKinsey PST or BCG quant test.

Re. the rules of the test I don't remember enough, sorry.
Overall, don't stress too much about the test. Practice for it, but practice more for the sake of getting your general math skills up to par (which will help you in the case studies).
I've met a few people at Bain, including asking the interviewer during my first round, and they all said that the quant test isn't a deal breaker. Plus the fact that it's an online test you can take at home (unlike the PST or BCG quant test) tells you how seriously they take the test results.

Well I took the test today and I can tell you that its not that tough. However, having said that completing 28 questions in 25 mins is very challenging. There were a lot of tables and graphs to interpret.
I could complete only about 60% of the test!
Yeah, timing wasn't too good for me either. I think I attempted 23 of the 28 questions. Nothing too difficult but some questions are trickier than others. Easy to fall into a trap and waste time.

I also was only able to do around 75% of the test, and I felt like I was guessing on a lot of the problems. But I still ended up getting an offer from the firm. Make sure you do their online practice!
