Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights and tips for preparing for BCG interviews, including PIPE:

  1. Case Interview Preparation:

    • Practice is key. Utilize resources like "Case Interview Secrets," "Case in Point," and B-school casebooks.
    • BCG's website often provides sample cases and prep materials. Make sure to review these thoroughly.
    • Find good case partners to practice with. A strong case partner can provide actionable feedback to improve your performance.
  2. Interview Structure:

    • BCG's first-round interviews typically include a mix of case and fit/behavioral questions.
    • The second round often involves partners, and the cases may become less structured, requiring you to demonstrate logical thinking, math ability, and insightfulness.
  3. Behavioral Component:

    • Don't neglect the behavioral portion of the interview. Be prepared to articulate your "why consulting" and "why BCG" answers clearly.
    • Bain, for example, gauges behavior through the case in the first round, but BCG may have a more explicit behavioral section.
  4. Networking and Insights:

    • Networking can help you build a strong "why this firm" narrative, which is crucial during interviews.
    • If you're interviewing for a specialized group like PIPE, ensure you understand the nuances of the group and can articulate why you're interested in it.

If you're looking for case partners, consider reaching out to peers or joining forums and groups where candidates are actively preparing for consulting interviews. Good luck!

I’m actively looking for case partners over the next few weeks (UK / Europe time zone preferred, but flexible)

When I can’t line up partners, I’ve been using a tool called Minerva (ask-minerva. com) that’s been pretty helpful as a supplement. You talk through cases out loud while it plays the interviewer. You can pick the firm you’re targeting and the case type (profitability, market entry etc), and it tailors the prompts and exhibits around that.

It feels reasonably close to a real interview: you’re pushed on structuring, chart interpretation, math, and follow‑up questions. At the end it breaks down what you did well vs. what was off across a few dimensions and it also tracks your sessions over time, which makes it easier to see patterns in your strengths and weaknesses.

I still think live partners are very important for BCG PIPE, but when friends aren’t free, Minerva has been a useful way to get more reps in and more calibrated feedback than “yeah, that sounded fine” from another student.

If you’re interested in casing together, reply here and I’m happy to coordinate times.
