Best education practice?

Outside of P-EY, who has the best education practice? I noticed that the founder of P-EY's education and PE practices got acqui-hired by OW two years ago.

Are any of the MBB particularly strong in education? I know BCG has a strong pro-bono education practice but that's a bit different in my opinion than the for profit higher ed, edtech, large school system (e.g., PA, NY) consulting done by folks like P-EY. That said, that isn't to say they don't have a wider practice I'm unaware of. Interested in what y'all know. Thanks.

Don't really think there's that much work to be done in the for-profit higher ed or edtech spaces. If you think about the rates that MBB charge, it simply doesn't really makes sense to retain them that often for what will often be through-and-through implementation issues. Sure, there might be that one project every so often, but I don't think you should expect to see too much action there.

Large school systems, on the other hand, might be every so slightly more common because they're, well, large and have very big problems. Just be aware that they won't be of the pure strategy kind that you might see with a retail or pharma firm - it will be a lot of enterprise and functional cost-cutting as well as definition of initiatives to be executed. If you're really interested, my impression is that McKinsey is probably the best of the major consulting firms in this space.
