Best Internship for MBB

Very long time lurker making my first post. I'm a rising junior studying CS at low target school. My end goal is MBB consulting. Given that only 10 or so get an internship at MBB each year from my school, I am wondering what would look better on my resume for full time MBB recruiting. Currently have an offer from a 3rd tier BB/ MM firm and stand a solid chance for a FAANG internship. How much would this change if I get an offer from a top/mid tier bank? Would I be better off with an internship from a non - MBB consulting firm?

Both are strong internships and you should take the one you’re more interested in so you can take advantage of this chance to try out a job in case MBB doesn’t work out. As you said, MBB is really competitive. Both banking and FAANG have been stepping stones to MBB as you can find on LinkedIn. The FAANG brand name may be more useful if your banking offer is from a shop that’s unknown outside of finance.

Corporate strategy at a F500 is a great internship and can set you up for success with MBB recruiting. Your previous internship can serve two purposes. First to get your foot in the door. The prestige of FAANG and IB helps with this. Second to prepare for interviews. Corporate strat may help you tell a story of "why consulting" and might even give you tools for the case. T2 consulting serves this purpose even better. I think I favor FAANG/IB over F500 corporate strat since you can do other things to prep for interviews but you can't supplement prestige. To actually compare with FAANG, it also depends on what the role is (product management most prestigious, internal strategy most related to consulting).
