Big 4 Deals -> MBB

Hello everyone,

I am currently attending a semi-target in Canada (Laurier/Rotman/etc) and I am currently completing an internship in deals at a big 4. I have plenty of clubs/ecs and a 3.9/4.0 GPA, and I was wondering what I should do to recruit for MBB full time. Thanks in advance.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some steps you can take to transition from a Big 4 Deals internship to a full-time position at MBB (McKinsey, BCG, Bain):

  1. Networking:

    • Start networking early. Reach out to alumni from your school who are currently working at MBB. Use LinkedIn and your school's alumni network to make connections.
    • Attend any MBB recruiting events or information sessions. These are great opportunities to meet consultants and recruiters.
    • Consider setting up informational interviews to learn more about the firms and to get your name known.
  2. Resume and Application:

    • Tailor your resume to highlight your analytical skills, leadership experiences, and any relevant project work from your Big 4 internship.
    • Make sure your resume is polished and free of errors. Consider using WSO's resume review services for detailed feedback.
  3. Preparation for Interviews:

    • Prepare thoroughly for case interviews, which are a significant part of the MBB recruitment process. Practice with case books, online resources, and consider joining a case prep group.
    • Brush up on your behavioral interview skills. Be ready to discuss your experiences, particularly those that demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Leverage Your Internship:

    • Make the most of your current internship by seeking out challenging projects and taking on leadership roles when possible.
    • Seek feedback from your supervisors and colleagues to improve your performance and to gather strong references.
  5. Academic Performance:

    • Maintain your high GPA. A strong academic record is crucial for MBB recruitment.
  6. Extracurricular Activities:

    • Continue to be involved in clubs and extracurricular activities. Leadership roles in these organizations can be a significant advantage.

By following these steps, you can enhance your chances of securing a full-time position at MBB. Good luck with your recruitment process!
