Breaking Into Consulting with Marketing Background

I deeply enjoy macro-level strategy work especially when brand is involved.

I graduated from a target business school with an okay GPA (3.2) and got a job as a digital social strategist at a healthcare agency. Stayed there for 7 months and quit because the pay was pretty low (48k) and went to a fairly reputable creative agency where I make (60k) now as a jr. media strategist. I have a good deal of marketing/project management internships on my resume. I've also thought about getting my MBA to start with a clean slate and go into consulting but right now financially I can't afford to go back to school.

What are some next steps I need to take other than networking my ass off to break into consulting? I realize that hurdles include my subpar GPA and brief actual working job history.
