Can management consultants invest in the stock market?
Recently, I've been really interested in the stock markets and was planning on reading some books on investing so that I could pick it up as a side hobby.
If my goal is to land a management consultant ft gig when I get out of school next year, would trading stocks be a potential concern for the interviewers? Would there be any conflict of interests?
Every firm will have a conflict of interest policy. Specifics range from "you can't trade the stocks of any of your clients" to "you can't trade the stocks of any of the firm's clients" all the way through "you can't trade stocks in any industry we serve".
