I'm a current BA who interned. I've seen a bunch of folks who interned that jumped to MBB/T2 for FT, think its a well trodden path. That being said almost everyone I know took the return offer. Program is fantastic, and if you're interested in tech or financial services it is a great jumping off point.

Don't worry about what kind of team you'll get put on, you have almost zero control over that

Capital One BA Intern to MBB is very possible, it was my path to MBB and had a few others in my intern class who did the same. I wouldn't focus on any specific parts of Cap One (not sure if you get to choose IIRC) but it's a respected intern program that MBB recruiters know about and they tend to give you discrete projects where you can spin as you owned something and generated a quantifiable impact.

For your junior year I'd just focus on having a productive year with academics and extracurriculars. If you're in clubs now, convert those to leadership positions and wouldn't hurt to show some business interest (which you're already doing with the Capital One internship). Then towards the end of the year / over the summer network with alums at each of the MBBs and make sure to go to recruiting events. I also didn't get any interview invites for junior summer so wouldn't sweat it.
