Classmates/Friends for networking
Hi. I'm friends with this guy from my high school who interned at BCG this past summer. The thing is, though, that he only graduated high school last May. Therefore, I'm guessing that he got the internship mainly through family connections. Is there any way I could go about networking with him to potentially get an internship at BCG? What would you do? I've met his parents before, and they seem nice.

How many years apart are the two of you? Is this an acquaintance or an actual friend that you hang out with?
If he just graduated high school last May, no matter what he told you, he did not do a real internship at BCG. Period, end of story.
Maybe he interned in the mailroom or something.
Yeah, was this at an office in the U.S.? I know that at foreign offices many "relationship-hires" are offered informal internships that are different and much less structured than the formal internships made available through OCR.
He's 1 year below me, as I am currently a sophomore in college. I was actually good friends with his brother in high school. According to his Linkedin, he "analyzed casework and proposals, then classified them accordingly." He apparently did this from June-August.
And also, BCG actively recruits at my university, so for the purposes of trying to network with my high school friend, could that change anything? On my school's BCG page, there's this drop-down menu that allows you to rank your top 3 locations for consideration.
Unless he plans to graduate this academic year, he did not do a "real" internship at BCG. Period. Full stop.
Yes, this in the US, somewhere south of the Mason Dixon Line. For security reasons, I won't say which branch this was.
That narrows it down to 4 offices, and one of them is quite small.
I think it's five: DC, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Dallas. I guess technically even SF and LA are "below" the line.
Anyways, odd situation that you're in college and trying to network with a kid that just graduated high school. That said - it wouldn't hurt to ask him about it, ask how he found the role, and maybe pry a bit to see if his parents could help you out as well (since you've already met them/know them). Who knows...
This. Your friend might not have many contacts there, but his parents might and you may be able to get a foot in the door through them. If nothing else, what do you lose by trying?
