I'm an Army Infantry Officer transitioning out at the beginning of January. I've applied to a couple one year strategy programs that would begin in September. I won't hear if I'm accepted until around the time I get out or possibly even a little later. Assuming I'm accepted to one, I have this nice block between say Feb 1st and Sep 1st for internship opportunities. My end game is MBB (ideally BCG) or perhaps OW, or ATK. I was thinking of shooting for an off-cycle winter internship in industry followed by a consulting internship this summer.
Problem is while it would technically be my 'penultimate' year, it's tough to apply on that premise considering I won't have an acceptance until potentially after starting the internship. One thought I had was applying to internships on the premise of a Veterans transition deal. Any thoughts on reputable firms that would entertain such a thing...in industry or consulting? Or maybe some firms that people have had experience with as being generally flexible to unique circumstances?
Any input would be great.
