Consulting Questions

Hello All, I am a aspiring management consultant at one of the top firms and a freshman at a T10. My current GPA is alright, but from my university, usually a 3.8+ is beneficial. Since the MBB deadlines are in June-July of my sophomore summer, I was wondering how many quarters I could report. My university is on the quarter system, so I am in a position to load up on easy classes as I did some hard ones in freshman year and bring my GPA much higher. I was wondering if you have to apply as early as the application opens to maximize your chances (I have heard this before). It seems like the application for junior summer internships opens in April, when only two quarters of sophomore year will be under my belt. Additionally, I am on the track to get the presidency of a club, and I will also only learn of that in like May of sophomore year.

I understand that MBB has insanely low acceptance rates, especially for interns. I am open to interning or getting an offer at T2 consulting firms too. I was curious about the compensation for these firms. Most websites like MyConsultingOffer or CaseCoach report even MBB bases as being in the 90s. Management Consulted has the most comprehensive breakdown with relocation, signining, performance bonuses etc. for so many firms, and it reports that MBB is already at 110 and OW is also at 110 and LEK is at 95 and so on. Compensation is not everything, but I am unsure of who to trust. Thanks!

MBB does not do rolling applications, as long as you submit before the listed deadlines you will be read and given equal consideration in that deadline. That means there's no difference in submitting in April or one day before the deadline (except you need time to do any online assessments so don't cut it that close). I believe there is some minor benefit in applying in the earliest deadline which you are fully prepared for, but I would definitely wait if you may get club president/a GPA that can be rounded 0.1 higher.

For my school (which I think might be your school) McKinsey Summer BA only has one deadline on Aug 30, and Bain ACI has June 25 or Sep 10. Even with June 25th as your deadline, your spring quarter grades will be in.

Thanks, this was super helpful! I think BCG has the earliest deadline (in June), among MBB. McKinsey and Bain said July recently. However, I am not able to find information on the other firms OW/LEK/S& online (my school's career center only has the deadlines for MBB). I wonder where I could find those summer internship deadlines.
