  1. Alumni Network:

    • Cornell has a significant alumni network in various industries, including consulting. Leveraging this network can be crucial. Reach out to alumni for informational interviews and mentorship.
  2. Curriculum and Placement:

    • Cornell's curriculum and placement services are highly regarded, especially in tech and quant spaces. This strong academic foundation can be beneficial when applying to MBB firms.
  3. Networking:

    • Networking is key. Engage with alumni and professionals in the industry. Attend career fairs and networking events hosted by Cornell. The administration can help connect you with relevant alumni if you ask.
  4. Preparation:

    • Prepare thoroughly for the recruitment process. This includes understanding the technical and behavioral aspects of the interviews. Cornell provides structured guidance on what to expect and how to prepare for these interviews.
  5. Mental Fortitude:

    • The recruitment process can be exhausting, with numerous informationals and interviews. It requires significant mental fortitude, so be prepared for a rigorous process.
  6. Location Advantage:

    • Cornell's proximity to NYC is an advantage. Students often take trips to NYC for coffee chats and networking events. Utilize these opportunities to build connections.
  7. Career Fairs:

    • Participate in the multiple career fairs hosted by Cornell, specifically those tailored to Hotelies, Real Estate, and MBAs. These fairs can provide valuable networking opportunities and insights into the industry.

Cornell is NOT a semi-target for MBB. Rather, it is explicitly a target school for McKinsey and Bain (this status change only occurred last year) and is not a target school for BCG. For McKinsey, Cornell seems to do particularly well in the NYC-adjacent offices (think: Stamford). Meanwhile, for Bain, they've really been pushing Cornell to apply to their DC office. BCG seems willing to consider Cornell students but I've seen most people place into regional offices like Texas and not the main ones.

who are BCG's target schools? seems like they are different from bain/mckinsey's
