Credit Card recs
hey all, will be joining an mbb soon, but am also applying for a new credit card. from what i understand, the main thought is which card can i get the most out of rewards wise / offsetting annual fee wise. however, my food is paid for M-F and i’ll probably earn a lot of flight points from flying throughout the weeks so when i go to book a trip it may be cheaper anyways. also im in NY so gas is out of the equation too. given that those are 4 of the most common areas where points and benefits show up, i was thinking it makes the most sense to go with a card with general cash back but a lower annual fee such as the sapphire preferred. Would love to know if i’m overlooking anything. also, the firm uses Amex, and im trying to figure out if i can maybe link an amex gold to the corporate card to get points that way. i know there is a corporate cardholder discount
In the same situation, for daily somn like gold or Bilt might be the move for any leftover expenses, esp if you have a corporate card
If you stay at Marriotts, I would highly recommend getting a Bonvoy card. It gives you a good entry bonus but the ultimate reason is after a year, you can call them to upgrade you to a Ritz Carlton card.
The sound of that double-thick metal black card hitting the marble counter at the LGA Sapphire Lounge is worth every penny.
On serious note, it gives you free first-class upgrades, priory pass lounges (they are great in NYC), and travel protection any time your flight gets cancelled. Also, you get a free 85k point night every year and three Ritz club upgrades.
