I've narrowed down my selection of masters programs to the list below. Any opinions?

University matters more than the program
Doesn't this hold mainly for undergrads? In checking the LSE salary stats, most of the high-earners at a masters-level were finance students, indicating that non-relevant degrees don't yield the same opportunities.
When it comes to this, I've honestly read a lot of contradicting information. I don't know what to believe at this point... Do you have anecdotal evidence supporting what you say?
Self-selection bias toward finance/consulting jobs for these degrees, correlation =/= causality. Yes, there is some variance between courses within universities but for those mentioned here its fairly non-material and am reasonably confident Cambridge will yield you the best results in this specific selection of programs. The course variance also works a bit different than most people think here (e.g. business courses aren't necessarily better than non-business courses for some universities etc.)
I'm involved with UK recruiting for an MBB. Take with a grain of salt what I say as it's only a single company view - just laying out how it works for where I am. Can't comment on how it works for other firms, you might be right for them, no idea
Mate, you first need to figure out if you want to do consulting or IB - if you have no clue on what you should want to do, I encourage you to take a year off and do some internships to figure out what you want to do in life.
Most masters at Cambridge will be targetted for consulting but not targetted what so ever from Investment Banks. In general for consulting school>program, but for IB it's a combination of school & program.
Salary stats are completely irrelevant - for the Masters of Finance and Econ, given that most students want to do further academic research after that (which obviously compared to finance jobs pays a lot less, it brings the average down although you could pretty much expect the same salaries compared to the normal masters in finance).
My primary objective for sure would be consulting. My only concern is that I’ve read that consultancy jobs are extremely tough to get, even for top candidates from top universities. If I go to Oxford for a somewhat irrelevant masters program and I’m not competitive enough for consulting in MBB or elsewhere, my concern pertains to how to leverage my irrelevant masters in pursuing a career elsewhere in corporate or finance.
So in essence, my posts regarding masters programs for finance careers are for me to get insight into where I could hedge my bets so that if I don't get a consulting gig, I can always shoot for something else.
Is there any insight you have in regard to this dilemma?
