FT Recruiting - switching from IB to Consulting
This may be early to post this, but I signed in the winter for a 2025 SA stint in banking. Like a lot of people I got myself into it but didn't really know what my group did. I took a more specialized class on the subject of my group and HATED the class last spring, especially toward the middle to end of the semester. I was really excited when I got the offer, as there were really friendly vibes from the group and it has great PE exits, though it is a sweatshop, but by the end of the semester I wanted to reneg because of the class.
Over this summer I was thinking about it more and hoping the negative feeling would go away and I'd get over it and enjoy the upcoming summer, but it hasn't gotten better, only intensified. Underclassmen from my college's investment fund are now asking me how to break in and I feel bad because I can't even recommend my group to them or even bother to chat with them without having a visceral reaction to the results of the class last semester and by extension my upcoming internship. On the other hand my friends have been telling me since the spring to get over it because we're a semitarget and it's not often that kids break in especially to that group from my school, which I've been trying, but for whatever reason I can't shake it off - I feel like I have the world's most lame version of PTSD.
However, simultaneously, I ran through some consulting cases with my friends who were prepping and it turns out I'm really good at them and I liked them more than I ever liked prepping for banking. I was wondering how the process for consulting works for FT, and if they take from banking at all, or which shops do take from banking.
