Having "Incoming intern at [insert firm]" while networking to other firms?

Hello!

I'm currently a junior with an advisory internship lined up at a big 4 firm. I'm happy and know that I'm fortunate to have the opportunity, but I have an inkling that I would still like to join an MBB or T2 firm that provides more strategy engagements after my internship experience, therefore I am continuing to network via LinkedIn with 2nd/3rd connections at other firms to keep the door open.

My question is should I or should I not put in my LinkedIn that I am an "incoming advisory intern at [Big 4 firm]"? With no previous consulting internships, having the title might let people know I'm serious about my goal to work in consulting, but I am cautious that having the title will inadvertently lead to negative assumptions about me (e.g. someone who chases prestige, etc.), causing an opposite desired effect.

I would appreciate hearing the thoughts of the consultants here and how you would view this situation. I am open to all thoughts and advice.

Thank you

Instead of updating your LinkedIn title, just mention your upcoming summer internship in your message to the alums you're reaching out to. An example would be:

"Hi Their Name, My name is Your Name, and I'm a junior at University interested in consulting. This summer I'll be interning at Your Big 4 Firm, but I'm interested in learning more about Their Firm. Blah Blah Blah."
