How do you get promoted at Deloitte Consulting?

I recently started as a Business Technology Analyst at Deloitte Consulting and am currently working on a client's project, and I have a few questions:

  • How do you get promoted? (Is it realistic to jump from BTA to consultant in a year?)
  • Who are the people you need to impress?
  • How do you become of value to the company?

Thanks.

1) It's very possible. Show that you are a level ahead of your peers, both in terms of work quality, drive and leadership capabilities. Volunteer for the work that no one wants and do well. If you succeed you will really stand out. 2) You will need to impress not only the partner and senior partner of your engagement, but also have to make yourself known in your service line (firm contribution, proposal work, networking, etc). At year end review, your name goes up on the board and your Counselor will have to stand up in a room full of SM/PPD's and vouch for you, so give him/her something to speak about. 3) Anything that brings in money is valuable and thus highly visible
