How soon to begin lateral moves?

Will be starting work soon at a T2 straight out of UG. While the firm seems fantastic from the outside with good culture (at least for now) they pay well under what the market rate is without any bonuses on WLB. Coming straight out of college with debt to pay off t's really hard to ignore this factor. From what I have heard it does not seem like they will be changing this any time soon.

How soon should I begin looking for lateral moves to other T2 firms and what steps should I take? I know that I should stick around for at least a year.

TIA for any pointers/stories of your own lateral moves.

My best friend just moved in your situation— he had around a year but had been reaching out to friends at other firms and developed a friendship with a few over the year. I think he didn’t start networking with the intention of moving but over an entire year he got a referral and landed it easily. Id say start whenever
