Incoming Penn SEAS ’30 (not Wharton). I want MBB and possibly IB.

Background: I applied for M&T (Wharton+Engineering @Penn,) but was only accepted into engineering. How much does being in SEAS (vs Wharton) actually change odds at Penn, and what should I prioritize freshman year? (I've heard even getting into consulting clubs is difficult)

Also, is pursuing the SEAS+Wharton dual degree worth the time cost, or does it distract from recruiting? I will be majoring in Artificial Intelligence.

Lol calm down. Went to Penn now at MBB. Don't think M&T is a dealbreaker for MBB. Main thing from engineering is getting a 3.7+ GPA (3.8+ great if possible), having some leadership experience in any club of interest to you, and having some relevant business internships to talk about. Focus on action words and where you led in your resume. Consulting clubs make zero difference to getting accepted.

I would not restrict yourself to consulting (or even IB) at this stage. If you're engineering at Penn, you could be doing quant and getting paid a ridiculous amount, have some AI technical role that a MANGO company will pay you a decent amount for, get into some high-growth startup, start your own thing, etc. For now, just relax and try stuff out before you are obligated to commit to a recruiting process as a Sophomore

Brother you go to Penn. You’re fine. These forums have warped your mind. Your school will open any door you can dream of. The onus is on you to work hard and you will be able to land any job.
