Info Request - S&O within Tech vs. Product Management within Tech

I've been doing some research into product management within technology, and saw that it mirrors project management from a technical standpoint (EY technology, IBM, Deloitte Enterprise It, Capco, Tata Consultancy, Financial Transformation, etc.) with a more ownership mindset specially post-product launch. I've also come across strategy & operations teams within technology.

It got me curious about these two infamous exit ops from consulting; more so just on a general perspective. Anyone care to share their experiences from Consulting -> Product Management or Consulting -> S&O (within tech or otherwise).

In my view, S&O mirrors business consulting or more operational metrics for performance at a client (now your employer) company and measures the track record based on internal initiatives or workstreams targeted towards improving those metrics. In contrast, product management holistically looks to research, develop and maintain a product and subsequent features with iterations and improvements across the life of the product.

I'd love to hear from folks in these spaces and hear what they enjoyed/didn't like in comparison to consulting.
