Internship and FT Recruiting, GPA vs Case weighting

I am back from abroad and missed fall recruiting on campus last semester. I am at a target school with a perfect GPA recruiting for some of the smaller firms and a couple bigger ones for summer internships. I am a science major with little to no business experience, but somewhat relevant research experience and other leadership experience.

My questions are as follows:

  • How much can a great GPA carry you? I got final rounds at a couple places (have yet to hear) and my cases were okay in terms of material, though I was definitely confident, relaxed, and comfortable. Would my GPA make up for maybe a mediocre case, or is it irrelevant in the final round (or even after first round)?

  • If I don't get a business related internship at all, how much is that a killer for me in terms of full time recruiting next fall? Especially if end up working for a non-profit or doing research.

Thanks in advance for the help!
