Investment Manager Research Intern; Career Prospects/Exit Opportunities?
I am an incoming Investment Manager Research intern at a large consulting firm, and am looking to gain insight into the career path/exit opportunities within this field.
Essentially, I will be working with Associates/Analysts covering different asset classes (Equities, FI, HF) in order to gain all around experience and ideally find the one I enjoy the most. They stressed to me that they try to hire their interns with the goal of a full-time offer at the end of the internship, so it seems likely that (barring any unforeseen circumstances) I will have the opportunity to begin my career there.
Does anyone have experience within this field? If so, what is the work/life balance like? Do you find the work interesting? What is the career progression like? Compensation? Exit opportunities?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
